Having a spelling mistake on your website can put off potential buyers. Charles Duncombe, an online entrepreneur, suggests that the problem with poor spelling is wide-spread, costing the UK Internet economy millions.

Recent figures show that UK Internet sales are currently around £550 million per week. Charles Duncombe suggests that the root of the miss-spelling problem is from the education system.

An experiment was conducted with one of Charles Duncombe’s websites – tightsplease.co.uk. A spelling error was purposely placed, and the sales halved, once the error was put right the sales went back to normal.

Website owners should take action after reading this report, and realise that a simple spelling mistake could potentially halve their sales.
