Technology is supposed to make our lives easier. And most of the time it absolutely does! Modern technology has made communication, working and just about everything else easier than ever. How many of us can imagine giving up our smart phone for example? Or our laptop? Yeah, didn’t think so. And there’s nothing wrong with that at all. Tech has taken over huge chunks of people’s lives and most of the time you have no choice but to embrace it. Can you imagine telling a prospective employer that you don’t have an email address? But sometimes tech can refuse to do it’s told. When things like that happen, you need to be able to deal with. Here are a few common tech problems that anyone should be able to deal with. And if you’re already a tech genius, you can point your parents towards this list instead of fixing their computer for them again.

Broken charger cords

It’s so frustrating when you start to see the plastic around your charger cord splitting and exposing the metal wiring. You know that it’s not going to stop working straight away, but it’s still a source of anxiety every time you look at it. A simple and easy way to stop that from happening is to put the spring from and old pen around it. That’ll stop it from bending and breaking. Simple, yet effective.

Frozen computers

A computer crash is one of those things that’s become a pretty universal fear at this point. We store so much of our lives on the computer these days. Many of us do most of our work, shopping, and even socialising on our computers that the idea of them simply stopping out of nowhere is frankly horrifying. Whether the screen suddenly goes blank or everything simply stops moving no matter what you do, it’s not a good time for anyone. Mac owners are more than a little familiar with the spinning rainbow wheel that indicates that their computer is on the verge of a meltdown. The most important thing to remember is not to panic and mash the mouse and keyboard as much as possible. That’s just going to make things worse. Just relax and leave the computer for a few minutes. If you’re lucky, it’ll just sort itself out. Otherwise, you might need to restart it. If that’s the case, just try not to put your fist through the screen in anger.

Pathetic battery life

People use their phones these days more than ever. Which makes it all the more ridiculous how laughable most phone battery lives are. You should make sure that you’ve turned off the function on your phone that refreshes apps when you’re not using them. The other thing that you can do is to turn your phone to aeroplane mode while it’s charging. This won’t extend the battery life of your phone but will make it charge faster, reducing the tedious waits while it comes back to life.
